How do I know if I should consider therapy?

The American Psychological Association suggests considering therapy when there is an issue that causes stress and interferes with some part of your life.  Some signs that the issue is a concern is when you are thinking about or coping with it for at least an hour a day, it causes embarrassment or makes you want to avoid others, it has caused a decrease in your quality of life, and/or it has negatively impacted school, work, or your relationships.  If the following emotions interfere with your life you may want to consider getting help: overwhelmed, fatigued, disproportionate anger, agoraphobia, anxiousness, apathy, hopelessness, and/or social withdrawal.

How would therapy be beneficial to my everyday life?

You will learn more about yourself during the therapeutic process.  Therapy can also help you achieve your goals and help you have more fulfilling relationships.  Research supports a link between mind and body wellness which indicates that therapy can lead to better health as well as improvements in all areas of life.

Will my information be protected?

The Counseling Connections Center follows all HIPAA rules and regulations.   The Ohio counselor board’s ethical code has strict mandates regarding client confidentiality and protections of records as well.  CCC team members are committed to maintaining your privacy and confidentiality in order to make the counseling experience comfortable and effective.

Will my insurance be accepted?

We are providers for most local insurance plans.  If you are unsure if we are in your network, please contact your insurance provider. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

If we are out of network with your insurance, you can pay the Counseling Connections Center up front and we will give you an invoice that you can send to your insurance company.  Your insurance company may fully or partially refund you for the amount that you paid to CCC.

Are the therapists licensed professionals?

All of the therapists at Counseling Connections Center are Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors in the State of Ohio.

How often would I have therapy sessions?

In the beginning, the therapist prefers to see you weekly in order to get to know you and help you make changes early on in the counseling relationship.  After that, the clinician uses their professional judgment in order to decide what is best for you. Some clients are seen every week, others every other week, and some come on a monthly basis for maintenance purposes.

How much does therapy cost?

The initial session is $120 and all subsequent sessions cost $100.  For those who do not have insurance we have a sliding scale fee.

What should I do if I cannot afford therapy?

There are many great options in our area that may have the resources necessary to help you. Here are some counseling centers that may be able to work with you: Wyandot Counseling Associates, Lutheran Social Services, Family Counseling Services, and Rachel Hummel-Sass.

What can I expect at the first session?

While some people are nervous about talking to a new person about their struggles, most find it is much more comfortable than they had expected.  The counselor will start the conversation by explaining the counseling process and policies. Then, the client will have the opportunity to talk about what brings them to counseling.  The counselor will help by asking questions to direct the conversation as needed.
